Sell something on eBay and donate a portion (or even all!) of the profits to LCS!
LCS is listed with the eBay Giving Works program, verified by MissionFish. When you list an item, you can choose to donate part of the profits to a non-profit charity listed by MissionFish. Select the Lawrence Community Shelter and the percentage of the sale you want to donate. MissionFish will handle collecting that percentage and giving it to us, as well as providing a tax donation receipt to the winning bidder. Be a coffee counselor
Having someone to listen can be irreplacable for someone who survives in a city where no one takes the time to get to know him. Volunteer to tutor someone in basic computer skills, resume writing, clerical skills, cooking, landscaping or whatever vocational skills you have an interest in.

Shop for us
When grocery shopping, throw something extra into your cart for LCS and bring it by - coffee, creamer, sugar, cereal, milk, and bread are always in need. Laundry and house cleaning supplies are also very handy.

Party for us
Host a dinner party, barbeque, luncheon, etc. and encourage guests to bring a donation for LCS (money, food, new toiletries, batteries, bus vouchers, etc.). You can even create a theme around the donated items (example: camping gear with an outdoor barbeque).

Spring Cleaning
Do a little Spring cleaning at home, then hold a garage sale and donate a portion of your profits to LCS.

Hire us
Hire an LCS guest or two for day labor activities such as yard work, cleaning out the garage, moving, etc.

Help us clean up
Help out with the cleaning and laundry by donating gallons of bleach, laundry soap, cleaning products, sponges, and paper towels.

Help keep our minds active
Donate old board games, decks of cards, and books for night-time guest entertainment.

Help the Mind, Body, & Spirit
Make a connection that counts. Discuss current events, lead a book discussion, start a group walk, or share your spirituality. By nurturing each, the mind, body, spirit, the whole can become healthy.

Youth!
We need your help to keep food in the pantry and other supplies in storage. We need as many groups as possible to coordinate food or supply drives. Check out the Drop-In Shop Needs or Shelter Needs sections of this web site for some ideas or call to see if there are any special needs. Or be creative and come up with your own idea for a group project.

Special Fundraising Events
There are numerous fundraising events throughout the year, but our big fundraiser is Chocolate & Tea at Three, typically held in November each year. Check back soon for more information on other fundraisers.

Holiday Gift Program
During the month of December, the Lawrence Community Shelter offers its guests the opportunity to sign up to receive Holiday presents. For many, this is the only gift exchange they have experienced in a very long time. You can help by acting as Santa for someone in need. Sponsors needed beginning December 1st.

You can RECYCLE!
Come by the center once a month and pick up the recycling for delivery at the Wal-Mart recycling center.
