Lawrence Community Shelter Contracts to Purchase New Shelter Building

Lawrence, Kan. (October 3, 2011) – LCS to Purchase 3701 Franklin Park Circle

Join the Lawrence Community Shelter (LCS) staff and board members as well as Lawrence City Commissioners and Douglas County Commissioners at the Franklin Business Center, 3701 Franklin Park Circle, on Tuesday, October 4th at 2:00 pm for the official announcement of the pending property purchase and the official kickoff of the public phase to raise the last $800,000 to complete the capital campaign.

The Lawrence Community Shelter has already been able quietly to raise about 75% of the money necessary to purchase and renovate the property to bring a decent shelter, adequate to the programs and needs of the families and individuals experiencing homelessness in Lawrence and Douglas County. In addition to $897,597.53 raised and $270,018.00 pledged from private donors, LCS has secured:

The Lawrence Community Shelter is currently offering a warm and safe place for nearly 100 family members and individuals to sleep and food to eat each night with support services and programs to provide a path to a positive future.
