Health Care (Physical)
Ballard Community Services / Penn House

Services for low-income Douglas County residents, including: case management, rent/utility assistance, clothing, school kits, tax assistance, mobile food pantry, job assistance.
Douglas County Dental Clinic
316 Maine Street
Providing comprehensive dental care to low income, uninsured residents of Douglas County; reduced fees charged on a sliding scale, according to household income. Medicaid and Health-wave accepted.
Haskell Indian Health Center
2415 Massachusetts Street
Health services available to any federally recognized tribal member, including Community practice, optometry, dietary, mammography and well-woman exams, pediatric and well-child exams, mental health services, drug abuse counseling, diabetes clinics, dental care and pharmacy and lab.
Health Care Access
330 Maine Street
Facilitates access to health services for Douglas County residents with limited financial means who are not covered by private or governmental insurance programs.
Heartland Community Health Center

Medical clinic with sliding scale fees, food pantry, counseling program, marriage and family counseling, financial benevolence, pregnancy care.
Lawrence Memorial Hospital

Providing acute care inpatient and outpatient services, community education programs, 24-hour emergency department and psychiatric stabilization services.
Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department

Immunizations, family planning clinic (including exams, birth control and pregnancy tests), diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, HIV testing and counseling, well child checks, resources for seniors wanting to remain in the home (Project LIVELY), nutrition assistance to pregnant women and children under five (WIC), assistance for at-risk families with parenting skills, education and community resources (Maternal Child Health).

Provides physician-ordered home visits for the homebound acutely ill patient; end-of-life care with emphasis on comfort; individual personal care and housekeeping.
