David Hawley 

David Hawley is the founder and CEO of Avalon Wellness and Recovery, a recovery center built on compassion, dignity, and person-centered care. A longtime resident in recovery for over 22 years, David speaks from lived experience and a deep commitment to helping others find freedom from substance use and mental health challenges. Rooted in his personal journey, Avalon reflects his belief in healing through community and evidence-based treatment delivered with hope in a setting designed to make clients feel safe and welcomed. David envisions and leads an organization that prioritizes transformation, supportive mentorship, and holistic well-being.

 

Beyond Avalon, David brings a diverse entrepreneurial background. He started his college education in art and design at the Cleveland Institute of Art and finished his degree at the University of Kansas. David worked in various design fields in Los Angeles before moving to Kansas to finish his degree. He has also worked in the residential and commercial real estate markets, where he helped investors identify properties and develop them for commercial use. Since 2003, he has worked as a consultant and project manager in the architectural titanium industry, helping clients and architects source, customize, and design titanium materials for innovative, integrated solutions in architecture, art, and design.

 

In addition to business leadership, David manages a successful restaurant operation and contributes his time and resources to numerous community organizations and charities. He serves as a board member for Downtown Lawrence, Inc., furthering community development, and advocating for a viable downtown Lawrence. David is a devoted father of five, a recovery mentor, and a community leader whose work spans philanthropy, education, and social welfare. He remains committed to uplifting others and driving positive change through compassionate leadership.
