These resource pages are intended for current guests, former guests, or anyone in Lawrence / Douglas County at risk of homelessness.
If you fall into any of these categories, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us here at the shelter. Your email will be received by one of our staff, who will write you back promptly in order to provide support and advice.

American Red Cross

Food, lodging, clothing for disaster. Utility assistance for customers of Westar (Project DESERVE).
Ballard Community Services
708 Elm Street
Pantry for clothing, food, and basic household goods. Pantry is open Monday-Friday 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
1525 W. 6th Street
Provides food vouchers that are accessible every 30 days. On-site classes are available to learn about creating nutritious meals with the ingredients distributed in the pantry. Food vouchers are also available to be used on personal care items at this facility.
2518 Ridge Court
Provides food vouchers that are accessible every 30 days. Open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. Bring proper identification and documentation upon arrival to the facility.
Food Pantry at First Baptist Church
1330 Kasold Drive
No-touch food service with bags pre-prepared that is accessible two times a month per person. Harvesters food mobility service operates within the facility parking lot on the fourth Saturday of each month from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Food Pantry at Southside Church of Christ
1105 West 25th Street
Free food pantry. Must call before arriving. Open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 9:30 am until 11:30 am.
Food Pantry at Trinity Episcopal Church
1027 Vermont Street
Food pantry that provides one pre-prepared bag of food to any person requesting assistance, no requirements needed. Open Tuesdays from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm, and Saturdays from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm.
946 Vermont Street
Provides breakfast in Brady Hall of First United Methodist Church on Tuesdays and Fridays, 7:00 am until 8:00 am. Volunteers take orders and serve participants.
1000 E. 11th Street
In-person food pantry available every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Complete client info form on their website first. Grocery delivery services available for people who are homebound through appointment only.
221 W. 10th Street
Serves lunch every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at 1:00 in the basement of the First Christian Church.
Meals on Wheels
2121 Kasold, Suite B
Specialized home meal delivery program for homebound persons that have special dietary needs. Operates Monday through Friday.
1501 Learnard Ave
24/7 Porch Pantry, always open, always free. Take what you need, leave what you can. No questions asked. And free Community Meals are available on the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 5 to 7 p.m.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
SNAP offers nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families. For food assistance benefits (food stamps), apply online or call.
