How Does It Work?

  • Emergency Shelter

The Emergency Shelter Program is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Guests are served on a first come, first serve basis as beds are available. Guests who temporarily stay at the shelter receive three meals daily, access to shower and laundry facilities, a locker for personal belongings, mail delivered to the shelter, hygiene products and other basic needs.

  • Housing Navigation

Housing Navigators assist with housing applications and work with local landlords and community agencies in order to help our guests find affordable, permanent housing.

  • Care Coordination

After someone arrives at LCS, they meet with their Inreach Case Manager to identify their barriers to housing, such as acquiring identification and any missing documents for job or housing applications. Care coordination offers services that are person-centered, address barriers to housing, and promote self-care, skills, and independence.

  • Housing Stabilization

Once the Move-Out Program has helped overcome the first barrier to stability by providing basic furniture for the new home, individuals may continue to work with the Housing Stabilization Manager to get the resources, supports, and referrals they need to make sure they stay housed. When people stay housed–when they have stability–they don’t end up back at the shelter. Instead, they begin their journey to a positive future!
